Women’s Golf competed at the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate Invitational, at Port Royal Golf Club, placing fifth out of 11 teams with a score of 945 (+93).
The Bison went into the tournament coming off a team title at the Battle at Vero and the Northern Kentucky Spring Fling. They faced stiff competition from Stetson and Albany as well as regional rivals Lehigh, Mount St. Mary’s and St. Francis.
In the first round, Sophia Bardunias ’28 led the way for the Orange and Blue, shooting a 74 (+3), which placed her in a three-way tie for the lead. Bardunias found herself at +3 at the turn, but shot par on the back nine, finding birdies on the 11th and 18th holes. Nicole Yun ’27 backed her up with an 80 (+9) as the Bison found themselves at +34 and in fourth place, just three strokes back of second place.
Bardunias continued to lead the Orange and Blue in the second round, shooting another 74 (+3) to slot herself in sole possession of third place. She had a cold start, shooting +4 through the first four holes, but started to work her way back with birdies on holes seven, eight, 12 and 14. Yun improved on her first round, shooting a 77 (+6) to move up into a tie for 17th place. Katherine Vice ’27 was right behind her, tied for 19th place with a +16 through two rounds. The Orange and Blue still found themselves in fourth heading into the final round.
On Saturday’s final round, Bardunias shot an 81 (+10) to finish in sixth place, with a 229 (+16) final score. Vice moved up into 18th place with a 79 (+8) third round. The Bison ultimately fell one spot to fifth overall.
Women’s Golf continues its season April 5-6 at the Youngstown State Spring Invitational.
