Women’s Lacrosse falls on the road to Holy Cross

Bucknell traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts this past Saturday to take on Patriot League foe Holy Cross. Despite a tough battle in the second half, the Bison fell 18-10.

Seven different players scored for the Bison in this one, led by Megan Krestinski ’26 with a hat trick of her own. Braeden Siverson ’27 and Taylor Kopan ’24 each scored twice, while Regan Sansiviero ’26, Abby Henderson ’27, Allie Boyce ’25 and Katie Browne ’26 each scored once.

Bucknell got in a hole early, and ended up trailing 17-3 at the end of the first half. But, the team fought back and made it a contest once the second half began behind a two possession-two goal streak by Siverson, bringing the deficit to 17-5. The Bison needed a big offensive run in the fourth quarter, but led with its defense, holding Holy Cross scoreless in the third quarter.

Bucknell got out to an early scoring run in the fourth, with Kopan slinging one into the top shelf of the net.

Henderson then let a ripper go from far out to inch the Bison closer, bringing the momentum to their side. After Browne notched her first goal, Holy Cross was forced to call a timeout, with Bucknell scoring the last five goals.

In the end, Holy Cross was able to halt the scoring run, and Bucknell fell 18-10.

“We knew that we had to capitalize on every opportunity we had in order to try to close the gap… I think that as a team cultivating a ‘refuse to lose’ mindset and being resilient from the first whistle will help our team overcome adversity,” Sansiviero said.

The Bison now sit at 3-5 on the season, and face off against Navy on the road on March 30.
