Bucknell Women’s Tennis kicked off a great start to fall as it hosted the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13 and 14. The Bison performed well against Lafayette, Slippery Rock, Saint Francis, Millersville and IUP. Cameron King ’28 led the team as she went undefeated in singles and doubles for the entirety of the weekend.
The invitational adopted a round-robin style of play with four singles groups and four doubles groups, with three rounds of each kind. King won her three individual singles matches, posting final scores of 6-2, 6-4 against Lafayette, 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 against Saint Francis, and 6-2, 6-1 versus Slippery Rock. King then partnered with Riley Jennings ’28 to defeat pairs from Millersville, Saint Francis and Lafayette to post a 3-0 record.
Mirra Manolov ’26 won all of her singles matches against Lafayette and IUP. She joined Summer Even-Esh ’29 in doubles to go 1-2 in their matches, winning against a team from Lafayette. Mariana Shulman ’29, Tori Allen ’27, Natalie Devraj ’28 and Kate Purpura ’29 all went 2-1 in their respective singles matches. Allen and Devraj then went 2-0 in doubles together and Shulman and Abby Platt ’26 went 2-1 together. Jennings and Jaycie Mair ’27 went 1-2 in each of their singles matches, and Purpura and Mair joined together to post a 2–1 doubles score from the weekend.
The Bison will be back in action next week, Friday, Sept. 26, at the West Point Invitational in New York.
