Men’s Soccer continued Patriot League action at Lehigh on Oct. 18, but a late goal by the Mountain Hawks resulted in a 2-1 loss for the Bison. The Orange and Blue now stand at 7-3-3 overall and 3-2-1 in conference action.
It didn’t take long for the ball to find the net, as Lehigh opened up the scoring just seven minutes into the match to take a 1-0 lead early on its home turf. However, the Bison responded quickly, as Kasper Piela ’27 found the net in the 17th minute to equalize the match at one goal a piece.
The match transformed into a defensive battle for the remainder of the contest, as Freddie Lapworth ’26 and Lehigh’s keeper kept the tally knotted at one.
As time began to tick away, both squads upped the offensive pressure. The Orange and Blue were awarded several opportunities to take the lead, but missed out each time. Eventually, Lehigh was able to capitalize late in the 85th minute on an attack and take a 2-1 lead, which would hold true for the remainder of the second half.
The Bison outshot Lehigh 14-7 while both squads notched five shots on goal.
This was the Orange and Blue’s first loss since Sept. 27 against Boston University, and they will look to get back on track at home on Oct. 25 to face American at 6 p.m.
