Men’s Tennis competed against two ranked opponents in Philadelphia over the weekend, falling 4-2 to St. Joseph’s on Saturday and 4-2 to Drexel on Sunday.
Against the Hawks, the duo of Amar Tahirovic ’26 and Brendan McDonald ’26 claimed victory on the no. 1 doubles court, 6-3. This put McDonald at 88 career doubles victories, slotting him ahead of Ryan Sandburg ’09 all-time and in sole possession of the record book’s top spot.
The Hawks would claim the other two doubles matches, taking the first point of the day. In singles play, Tahirovic picked up his 18th win of the season in a two-set, 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega ’26 picked up the Orange and Blue’s second and final point of the day with a 6-4, 7-5 win on the no. 5 court. Despite this, St. Joseph’s claimed wins on the second, third and sixth courts to take a 4-2 match victory.
On Sunday, taking on the Dragons, the Bison were only able to claim two victories, both in singles. Drexel claimed doubles wins on the second and third courts to claim the first point of the match.
Tahirovic and Liam Kilmer ’27 would find two points for the Orange and Blue on the singles court. Tahirovic improved his season record to 19-5 and found his ninth consecutive win, defeating the Dragon’s no. 1 in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-4. Kilmer found his win on the no. 2 court, winning 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to pick up his 12th win of the year.
Men’s Tennis continues its season on Sat. Feb. 28, at home against Duquesne.
