Men’s Tennis faced Army (3-4 L) and Villanova (5-2 W), splitting the weekend 1-1. The Orange and Blue entered the matchup coming off two big wins against Loyola and Saint Francis. On the other hand, Army was coming off a strong win against Holy Cross while the Wildcats were looking to bounce back from a loss against Marquette University.
The Orange and Blue started their first matchup of the weekend, taking the doubles point over the Black Knights. Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega ’26 and Adam Stavrakas ’26 won 6-4 on Court 3. Nelson Alapi ’28 and Will Robinson ’27 clinched the point with their 7-5 win on Court 2. In singles play, three of the six total matches went to three sets. Stavrakas recorded a gritty win on Court 2 coming off a set down, while Brendan McDonald ’26 recorded a dominant win on Court 5.
Despite the strong offense, the Black Knights fought back with two straight-set wins and a crucial win against Amar Tahirovic ’26 in a battle of First Team All-Patriot Leaguers. The Bison fell to Army, 4-3.
The Bison brought the heat early out against the Wildcats. Both teams were equal after the first two doubles matchups, with Alapi and Robinson recording a win on Court 2 and the Wildcats responding, before McDonald and Tahirovic secured the point, winning 7-5. Tahirovic followed up his earlier win with a gritty tiebreaker in singles, taking the second set 6-2.
Robinson also recorded a straight-set win, while Liam Kilmer ’27 and Bain Moreno de Vega beat out their opponents, securing the Bison’s 5-2 win over the Wildcats.
The Bison compete next against Colgate at home on April 4.
